Rooted in our most simple nature, humanity is created to travel. Whether we know it or not, we are constantly travelling. Our bodies move, our stances sway, and our minds wander; ceaselessly changing direction towards an indefinite destination. I think there are many reasons to why we travel as we long to get away, we want to clear our minds and we need to see something different; we naturally crave change.

And so, we travel.

And when we travel, we discover.

We are introduced to new cultures and see new places, where we discover the splendor of the world.  We meet new people and hear new languages, where we discover how much more we have to learn. We explore new passions and search for meaning, where we discover who we are and where we are meant to be.

Growing up, I liked to think of myself as your typical kid who loved typical kid things. Cheese sandwiches were the food of choice on the train crossing the Rhine River. Frozen toes could not stop me from frolicking in the snow-filled streets of the Champs Elysees. And nearly pitch perfect singing along to Disney’s The Lion King could not be drowned out by the ringing of Big Ben. I really was just your typical, world-traveling, kid.

From a young age, the eternal worth of education and knowledge gained from exploring the world has been instilled in me to which I somewhat sarcastically blame, but more so gratefully attribute with extraordinary parents.  My gradual exposure to the wonders of the world has created an irreversible desire in me to see and experience a world beyond my greatest realm of imagination. From the savory food to the exquisite fashion to the fascinating history to the abundant culture, traveling has the power to captivate and capture it all, including my heart.

For me, the authenticity of traveling is an unparalleled, transcendent romance. Beauty grows in the reflection of humility and my personal perspective is constantly molded and shaped by the hand of reality. It’s the feeling of complete freedom and enjoyment in creation’s rawest form that God leaves a wake of awe and yearning for more. Inspired in the embrace of unfamiliarity, travelling has created opportunities and experiences that are worth far more than the time it took to get there.

I have learned so much from traveling than I could have ever thought possible and I cannot wait for what I hope will be much more. Hoping to document the adventures, remember the places, share the culture, recount the blessings and relish in the all the memories my travels have entailed, here’s to a lifetime of travel and travels of a lifetime.
